Stats for November 2009

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.  As I thought we had a bit off a drop off this month, but it was expected.  Our income number dropped only slightly which was very surprising.  Maybe we’re finally out of the so-called Google smart pricing for adSense.  Anyhow here are the numbers

Income November 2009

AdSense – $241.57

Amazon Associates – $13.90

Total – $255.47

We cleared the goal of $200 again this month.  In fact we were over $250 for the second straight month.  I’m going to gamble this month and say we see an increase in Amazon affiliate sales and push the stretch number up to $300.

I took the adSense off of site 2 because it wasn’t producing at all.  I may try it again down the line perhaps with a new theme optimized for adSense.

Subscribers

  • Blog 1- 1802
  • Blog 2 – 9
  • Blog 3 – 3
  • Blog 4 – not using feedburner

A modest jump up 101 subscribers.  I think I can really boost these numbers by offering a free downloadable product during sign up.  Perhaps a few guest posts would bump these numbers up as well.

Traffic

Site Usage

Visits = 25,983+ 1,116 + 6 + 404 = 27,509 - 4,556
Page Views =  45,209 + 1,619 + 6 + 625 = 47,4598,377

We definitely saw a drop in the numbers this month.  As I mentioned this is largely due to the Halloween article that got significant traffic in October.  I’m going to hope for some modest totals in December and hope to see a rise up to about 30K visitors and 50K Pageviews.

Here is my month-by-month comparison chart:

Goal Apr 2009 May 2009 Jun 2009 Jul 2009 Aug 2009 Sep 2009 Oct 2009 Nov 2009 December 2009 – Projected
Unique Visitors 27,433 21,133 19,827 22,184 24,924 29,263 32,065 27,509 200,000
Page Views 50,134 36,200 34,826 35,630 40,484 45,004 55,836 47,459 500,000

RSS/Email List 985 1,094 1,245 1,361 1,510 1,637 1,713 1,814 11,000
I’m going to point out 3 goals for the month:
  1. Continue to produce articles
  2. Try a guest post this month
  3. Put work into blog #4

Stats for August 2009

It’s that time again…yep the monthly stats report.

When I think of a blog I usually think daily or at least weekly posts.  When I think of a micro-blog I think of something like hourly posts.  I’ve reached the point on this blog where I’m pretty consistent with my monthly stats report, but besides that nothing.  What would that be considered?  A macro-blog?

Anyhow enough ranting.  This past month I got more consistent with my article posts and completed almost the entire Thirty day Challenge.  I got stuck around day 25 because I hadn’t received enough traffic.  In a few more days I will have enough traffic to consider the “Go, No Go” question on my micro-niche.

My micro-niche numbers for the Thirty Day Challenge will be included in this blog post.  By the way, here are a few preliminary numbers I don’t normally produce in this report:

Number of articles published:

Site 1: 16

Site 2: 8

Site 3: 1

Site 4: onsite: 5; offsite: 7

Total: 37

Income August 2009

AdSense – $132.82

Amazon Associates – $2.28

Total – $135.10

Once again I fell short and I did nothing besides article creation to try and create more money for my web properties.  I only monetize one of my 4 sites.  I will wait till the other four sites receive a minimum of 100 visitors a day average before considering monetization.  The Thirty Day Challenge engulfed much of my time this past month and the new site is starting to generate a little traffic from 10-20 visitors a month from search traffic.    I’m going to keep the goal at $150 till I actually reach that number.

The clickbank stuf doesn’t seem to be converting at all.  I’ll probably pull those advertisements this month.

Subscribers

  • Blog 1- 1,498
  • Blog 2 – 9
  • Blog 3 – 3
  • Blog 4 – not using feedburner

The grand total for RSS subscribers this month is 1510 an increase of 149.  Fell one shy of our goal of 150.  I was higher at some point last week, but dipped a little over the past few days.  Lets shoot for 200 again this month.

Traffic

Site Usage

Visits = 23,494 + 1,250 + 30 + 150 = 24,924 + 2,740
Page Views =  38,371 + 1,791 + 63 + 259 = 40,484 + 4,854

So close to our visitors numbers goal!  76 unique visitors off.  We fell well short of the page view goal…I’ll have to think about some ideas for making the site a little more sticky and getting each unique to view more pages.  We increased the number of visitors by 11% and the number of page views by 12%.  Lets shoot for another approximate increase of 15% on both.  That would put our goals at:  29,000 visitors and 47,000 page views.

Here is my month-by-month comparison chart:

Goal Apr 2009 May 2009 Jun 2009 Jul 2009 Aug 2009 December 2009 – Projected
Unique Visitors 27,433 21,133 19,827 22,184 24,924 200,000
Page Views 50,134 36,200 34,826 35,630 40,484 500,000
Revenue $173.74 $119.10 $135.75 $142.57 $135.10 $5,000
RSS/Email List 985 1,094 1,245 1,361 1,510 11,000

Those are some lofty December projections.  Honestly, I’m going to hope for a 15% growth rate between now and the end of the year.  That would put more realistic December traffic numbers at around 45K Unique Visitors and 72K Page Views.  I guess I was feeling ambitious several months ago after our April traffic spike.  Secretly I’m going to hope for 50K uniques and 100K Page Views by the end of the year.

The goal this month is to continue to output articles as well as work on a more structured backlink program following some of the methods I learned in the Thirty Day Challenge.

See ya next month!

Stats For July 2009

Time for my monthly review.  Unfortunately, nothing exciting happening on the blog over the past month.  Each major stat is either flat, slightly up, or slightly down.  Hopefully I can inject some enthusiasm into the blog during the month of August.

That being said, I’m participating in the 2009 edition of the Thirty Day Challenge.  The goal of which is to earn you first $10 through online marketing.  I’m going to do my best to follow each day step-by-step, but my real goal for the 30DC is to apply all the techniques to my army of web properties.  So, hopefully I can build one solid blog through the 30DC that produces $10 and can increase current web property traffic at the same time.

Income June 2009

AdSense – $127.34

Amazon Associates – $15.23

Total – $142.57

I’m pretty sure I’m not monetizing my traffic to the full potential.  Why?  It has to do with laziness.  I need to experiment with the other forms of monetization rather than relying on Google AdSense.  Also, I only added a few Amazon links in probably no more than 20 out of hundreds of pages on my sites.  I imagine I can increase my Associateds income by 5-10 if I added links and ads throughout all my pages.  Maybe it’s time to investigate a plugin that would do this for me.  Finally, one of my new web properties has finally started to show some promise attracting 30-40 new visitors a day.  This property has not been monetized either.  I’ll probably wait till I reach upwards of 100 visitors a day.  I’m going to keep the goal at $150 till I actually reach that number.

I did add a few clickbank links and have received over 100 clicks, but still waiting for my first sale.  We’ll see how that goes over the next month or two.

  • Blog 1- 1350
  • Blog 2 – 8
  • Blog 3 – 3

The grand total for RSS subscribers this month is 1361 an increase of 116.  Not a very good turn out falling way short of the 200 goal.  Lets scoot this one back down to 150 and hope to clear 1500 subscribers this month.

Traffic

Site Usage

Visits = 22,184+2,357
Page Views =  35,630 +804

It least we trended slightly up this month.  However, the bad news is that this includes stats from my all three web properties rather than just the one.  While my new sites contribution is slight it finally has reached some significance exceeding 1000 visitors and 1500 page views this past month.  I’m thinking htis is the month to reach the goals below…at least I think we can hit the number of visitors number.

Lets stick with last months goal 25,000 visitors and 45,000 page views.

Here is my month-by-month comparison chart:

Goal Apr 2009 May 2009 Jun 2009 Jul 2009 December 2009 – Projected
Unique Visitors 27,433 21,133 19,827 22,184 200,000
Page Views 50,134 36,200 34,826 35,630 500,000
Revenue $173.74 $119.10 $135.75 $142.57 $5,000
RSS/Email List 985 1,094 1,245 1,361 11,000

This month finally saw a change with an upward swing slightly up from the month before.  My thoughts at the beginning of this month is two fold.  First, experiment with my monetization strategies and second implement Thirty Day Challenge concepts to increase traffic and revenue.  I’m excited this month as I usually do much better with structure and that structure being the 30DC.

See ya next month!

Google Page Rank Update

Google Page Rank gets updated about every three months and recently I noticed one of my blogs had a nice little PR bump from PR4 to PR5. Unfortunately I haven’t been working on this blog much so still no PR. Neither do I plan on working on building back links for this blog so we may never have a Page Rank nor any kind of following. It’s not a big deal as I’m just trying to document my results for selfish purposes.Google Logo

This brings me to another goal that I can set for myself in the coming months. I’m currently working on 6 different websites and I set some money making goals in a previous post.  One additional goal I’d like to add is the PR rank for all six sites.  At the moment only one site has PR (PR2) all of the other sites are either shells or just domain names and an idea in my head.

My goal for these 6 sites is to have all sites between PR2 – 5 by the end of the year.  That gives me approximately 2 Google Page Rank updates and 7 months to achieve my goal.

My understanding is that the PR update I am talking about is only what is shown in the google toolbar and the actual page rank is always changing based on the dynamic nature of the web.

What about you?  Do you have a Google Page Rank Goal?

What Is A Trillion Dollars?

The other day I was sitting, listening to the news on the radio or television, hearing all about the bailout/economic stimulus package and how it was approved by the Senate and blahblahblah….the rest just kind of drowned out into oblivion except for the number a trillion dollars.  I’m not sure why I heard that number or why it stuck in my head, the “economic stimulus bill” is for $838 billion…not too shy of the magical one trillion dollars.

What Is A Trillion Dollars?

I know one trillion is a big number, but the real reason it caught my attention was because I was reading about numbers the other day and the article I saw was trying to put one trillion dollars in perspective.

So, what is a trillion dollars?

  1. A Trillion Dollars = $1,000,000,000,000.
  2. A Trillion Dollars is a one with 12 zeros to the left of the decimal point.
  3. A Trillion Dollars is a million million dollars.
  4. If you laid one dollar bills end to end, you could make a chain that stretches from Earth to the moon and back again 200 times before you ran out of dollar bills.
  5. One trillion would be enough to buy about a thousand boxes of Girl Scout cookies for every person in the US.
  6. A trillion barrels of oil would – at current consumption levels – fuel the world for about 33 years

…and the article I was reading:

Let’s say you came up with a great business idea about the time Jesus of Nazareth was born. And let’s say that business made one million dollars every day, day-in and day-out, 365 days a year from that point forward.

You wouldn’t earn a trillion dollars until October of 2737. – source: Teaching Sells.

So when you hear about bail outs, economic stimulus packages, and other government spendings remember What Is A Trillion Dollars?
